What do I need to rent equipment from you?

Bring a photo ID, and a major credit card. You can pay for your rental with cash, or with Visa or Mastercard, but we require a signed credit card slip as a security deposit on the equipment.

What do you have available for rent?

We have a limited number of BZ soft boards, ideal for learning to surf, or for beginnning surfers. We also have a some bodyboards, some hard boards for more advanced surfers, snorkelling gear, and wetsuits.  Our schools and camps have priority in the use of our equipment, so check with us for availability.

Can I rent boards from you for use outside San Elijo State Beach?

We prefer that you use our equipment within the beaches of San Elijo State Beach. The beach is wide open, and you'll easily find a spot to safely practice your surfing within the State Beach. If you like, you can take our equipment elsewhere, but we rent by the hour and must charge for any overtime rentals, or damage whether due to use or transport.

Do I need reservations for beach rentals?

Generally not, though if you would like to rent surfboards during our busiest weekends our camps, call or stop by our camp site to check on availability. Our classes and camps receive first priority on our equipment.  Be sure to bring a credit card and picture ID when renting equipment from us.

What should I bring to a Day Camp?

All you (or your child) will need is a pair of swim trunks, T-shirt or rash guard, sunscreen and a towel. Perhaps a change of clothes for the ride home.  We supply refreshments, fruit and snacks, wetsuits and surfboards.  For more details see our Surf Camp Packing List.

I am vegetarian, or on a special diet. Will I be able to eat the meals you provide?

We are happy to accommodate special diets, vegetarians, etc.  Let us know your specific needs when making your reservation, and confirm with us a few days before your camp. Of course, you are welcome to bring your own special foods or ingredients, and we'll help you prepare your special gourmet creations.

    Can weather affect a class?

Southern California is known for it's great, consistent weather. We can run most classes and camps regardless of the weather. Our full-length wetsuits will help keep you warm. However, if heavy rain or stormy weather is expected, call us on the day of the class at 760-809-3069 to find out for sure.

Do I need my own surfboard or wetsuit?

We supply all the equipment you'll need for your lesson, including a soft, stable surfboard, and a full-length Rip Curl wetsuit.  Just bring sunscreen, your swim trunks and a towel.

Is previous experience necessary before attending one of your learn to surf classes?

No!  We take you from the very basics of surfing, so that no experience is necessary. You should be comfortable in the water, and for your own safety, be able to swim and tread water.
